Magazine front cover analysis

Magazine covers are drenched in conventions and clichés which run throughout the various genres. Film magazines are no exception. Below I have analysed two well known magazines, Total film and Entertainment magazine, in order to study the various conventions.

It is clear that these two pieces of media text are very similar to one another but there is one more type of magazine cover. Uncluttered, these special edition covers (Generally presented by empire magazine) will contain one main image and the name of the magazine. These sparse covers are by far my favourite and the most aesthetically pleasing.
