My script

It can be said that the most important part of the movie process is the script. Not only is it the easiest way to convey the story, thus gaining the backing of a studio, it is also used throughout the entire process. After researching some of the conventions of cinema scripts and the way in which to structure them I produced on of my own. Below Is a two page extract from said script.

CUT to a man tied to a chair, he is in almost complete darkness with the exception of one light directly above him. As the camera slowly pulls back the back of a computer screen is seen. The screen begins projecting a red light. CUT to a close up of the computer screen. There is a spinning loading icon and the words “CORE JUSTICE SYSTEM” written above it.

Where the Fuck am I??

What is going on here!

 

David is sat in chair, crudely restrained with rags. He thrashes around frantically until he hears a synthetic voice coming from the screen; words also appear on the screen.

JUDI

Hello David, I’m afraid you are very much

Restrained for the foreseeable future

Please do try to make yourself comfortable.

 

With a somewhat perplexed expression written across his face David slams his head on the desk before moving closer to the computer screen. He begins laughing in disbelief.

 

DAVID

 

Alright guys you can come out now. Rachel

Was this your idea? Fuck guys seriously,

STOP IT!

 

The image on the screen seems to stare back at David before the voice returns.

 

JUDI

 

This is no joke, it seems you’ve been burning

The candle at both ends but your… other life,

Has finally caught up with you.

 

DAVID [CU]

 

What are you talking about, what other life??

Please just let me go, I’ve done nothing to you.

 

 

 

JUDI

 

[CU on screen] I know what you did last night.

 

The computer screen abruptly switches off. David starts to cry.

 

DAVID

 

Please… What’s going on?

 

The screens burns back into life, it begins to play a video. It appears to be CCTV footage. It shows David outside the back of a building. There is a woman throwing up. He walks over to her and begins making conversation. Flash back.

 

DAVID

 

ARE YOU SURE THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO FOR YOU?

 

WOMAN

 

YES I’M SURE! JUST [WRETCHES] GO AWAY

 

CU on David’s hand as he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a knife. He moves closer

 

DAVID

 

YOU SEEM TO BE IN A LOT OF PAIN, LET ME HELP.

 

Two shot of David and the woman as he makes a thrusting motion off screen, blood splashes up on him as the woman falls to the ground crying.

 

DAVID

 

SHHHHH… DON’T WORRY, IT WON’T HURT FOR MUCH

LONGER.

 

The shot mirrors that of the CCTV footage and then transitions back into black and white.

 

DAVID

 

HOW DID YOU GET THAT? ARE YOU GONNA TURN ME

IN TO THE POLICE? LOOK I CAN MAKE IT WORTH

YOUR WHILE… JUST LET ME GO.
